Upcoming Events
Here's what's
coming up on the Project D.E.E.P. calendar:
School placement exams will
be administered soon
Test-time is here! Any student looking to
gain admission into a local private or public exam school will be taking a test
during this period. The following is a breakdown of the three main tests:
ISEE: Often referred to as the
"Latin Test," the Independent Schools Entrance Exam is taken by all children
hoping to get into Boston Latin School or Boston Latin Academy. However, fifth-
and sixth-graders who are seeking acceptance letters from local private schools
(i.e. Thayer Academy, Milton Academy, Nobles, etc.) will also need to take this
test. WHEN IS IT HELD: For 6th- and 8th-graders: Saturday, November
8th, with a make-up date set for Saturday, November 22nd. For 5th-graders:
Please consult the test website, as
dates vary throughout the next two months. VISIT: http://www.iseetest.org for
more information or to register for the test.
SSAT: The Secondary School
Admissions Test is used by most non-Catholic, local private schools, especially
for admission into grade nine and above. Eighth grade students who are hoping
to get into schools like Thayer Academy and Roxbury Latin will need to take
this exam. WHEN IS IT HELD: Saturday, November 8th, with a second
date set for Saturday, December 6th. VISIT:
http://www.ssat.org for more
information or to register for the test.
HSPT: Better known as the Catholic
Schools Test, this exam needs to be taken by any eighth-graders who are looking
at schools like B.C. High, Archbishop Williams, or Fontbonne Academy for high
school. These schools will often accept the SSAT, but they prefer that students
take the HSPT. Also, unlike the ISEE and the SSAT, where the test sites are
often randomly assigned, students will usually take the HSPT at the Catholic
high schools in which they are most interested. WHEN IS IT HELD:
Saturday, November 15th, with a second date set for Saturday, December 3th.
VISIT: The website of the school in which you're most interested.
You can register for the test from there. There is no official website for the
HSPT. return to top |
